Budde

Uli Budde studied product design at the University of Applied Sciences in Potsdam and the Design Academy Eindhoven, where he completed his design studies in 2004. After more than six years in the Netherlands, where he worked for Hella Jongerius in Rotterdam and co-founded the design agency Officeoriginair, Uli Budde moved to Berlin in 2009 and established the Uli Budde Design Office, where he worked for international clients in the fields of everyday objects, furniture and lighting. Uli Budde has now been living and working in Wuppertal since 2024.

His work has been widely published, exhibited and awarded with design prizes, including the prestigious iF Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award.

Since 2022, Uli Budde holds a professorship for product design at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences.

Uli Budde's work investigates well-known everyday objects, finding new solutions to transform the familiar in thoughtful and functional ways. With their close relationship to familiar products, objects and situations, Budde's designs are easily understood and accepted into daily life — they are cleverly simple with an unobtrusive presence. Through his approach, he has developed a distinctive style that is both poetic and graphic without compromising functionality.
